We’d heard the stories. We’d seen the footage. But I’m not sure either of these ‘tales’ could prepare us for the 45 minutes of sprinting, squatting and sweating that was to come.
Barry’s Bootcamp is renowned as the ‘worlds toughest workout’. It’s a combination of circuit and interval training, switching between a box and treadmill, all designed to push you to the limits. And push us to the limits it certainly did.
We attended the ‘legs and butt’ session, taken by expert trainer, and pain inducer Faisal. This is actually not the first time Faisal had put us through our paces. He also challenged us during his session at the Ellie Goulding Nike event a few weeks ago, so we knew this wasn’t going to be an easy ride.
The room is dimly lit, boasting a red glare only emphasizing the intense nature of the class. Armed with a bottle of water, and sweat towel provided we took to our benches where we were to begin the session.
The next 45 minutes is somewhat of a blur. Faisal made sure our friendship was challenged as much as our bodies, encouraging us to push harder than each other, bringing out a competitive side neither of us were sure we had in us! The class focused on lower body, using dumbbells and resistance bands to assist each exercise. The circuit round was followed by a combination of sprints and hill climbs. I’m tired just thinking about it!
But we have to say that ‘post workout feeling’ was one of the best ever! Especially when paired with a delicious shake, and a hell of an endorphin rush!
Barry’s Bootcamp proved itself as the worlds toughest workout, yet still we are desperate for more. Who wants to join us?
