Plodded upon: Roads, all closed too!
What did we wear:
- Bra – lululemon Energy
- Top – lululemon Swiftly Long Sleeve
- Leggings – lululemon Speed Up
- Shoes – On CloudFlow for E and Saucony ISO Rides for H
- Watch – Garmin Forerunner 945
Where’d we go?
We started out at Longwater Lake by the Madejski Stadium and headed East towards Earley before looping around the University of Reading campus. We then turned north towards Reading and the crowds, ahead of finally hitting a very long stretch back along Rose Kiln Lane (A33) all the way back to the stadium.
We LOVED…
How our legs carried us. It was the first double weekender ahead of the London marathon, and with a big bank of miles in our legs the day before we were doubtful, but our little legs did us proud.
We Struggled…
With the final long straight. We were in the midst of training for a 100km ultra and so we had enured an 18 mile run the day before this. Safe to say the legs were feeling very heavy towards the end and the long straight back to the stadium felt never-ending at points.
Why this Race…
It’s a pretty good racecourse apart from the hill early doors. The roads are great, and the crowds well spread out meaning you can put some speed in should you wish! It’s also very easy to get to from London!
Famous Faces…
We bumped into the lovely James (@morningcoffeerun) getting in some miles done in full kit ahead of Marathon Des Sables. We also watched Laura Hoggins (@laurabiceps) absolutely smash the race out the park.
Mid run Brainwave…
Really? This hill 2 miles in? Well it can only get better!
Rocket Fuel…
Water and some margarita Clif bloks.
Number 1 Fan…
The gorgeous Nicki from the Reading Half Marathon PR!
