The Race: Paris Marathon

Who we ran with: Paris tourism board

How far did we go? 26.2miles

Plodded upon: Roads

What did we wear:

Where’d we go?

We started halfway down the Champs-Elyées. A quick little loop of Opéra and then out East past Bastille and up to the Château de Vincennes. At that point you turn back on yourself and head back to town alongside the river. At 30km the Eiffel Tower comes into view. You follow the river all the way to Pont du Garigliano where you turn right into Bois de Boulogne. A few sharp corners in the park before finishing along Avenue Foch with the Arc de Triomphe in the background.

We LOVED…

The sights! What a stunning route!

We Struggled…

There were some very cheeky cobbles at about mile 20/22 that were mean on tired legs.

Why this Race…

As far as marathons go it’s super easy to enter, no ballot! Also, did we mention the route? No better way to see an exceptional city.

Famous Faces…

The elites! Some incredible runners that we got to share the streets with.

Mid run Brainwave…

Well, it wasn’t mid-run, but this was the first marathon where we decided to carry our own hydration and it couldn’t have been a better choice. It was so wonderful not to have to panic about water stations and gulping water.

Rocket Fuel…

Water and margarita Clif Bloks.

Number 1 Fan…

Rhys, Aimee and Ryan who ran (well e-scootered) around the city all day to whoop and cheer us all along. They also had mini megaphones so we couldn’t miss them.
